Job Description:

Schedule:Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Position Summary Under minimal supervision, establishes, maintains and adjust supplies by conducting a physical inventory of 2600+ supply items daily. Supplies include all food items, tube feedings, paper supplies, smallwares and chemicals used in the department. Daily orders using vendor ordering systems, RSS, phone and fax machine. Verification of items received, invoices broken down by cost center and sent to accounting for payment. Using Vision Software forecast daily hot and cold production assignments throughout the department with verification of usages from Cbord reports. Adjust inventory levels to reflect amounts actually used on cycle menu and store unused food items until next menued day. Promotes excellent communication between co-workers, vendors, management team and other departments. Research and resolve invoice/billing errors. Minimum Qualifications Education --- High school graduate or equivalent required. Licensure/Certification/Registry: Certification in Food Service Sanitation preferred. Must possess valid Illinois drivers' license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required). Experience --- Four years culinary experience: cooking, baking, cold food production with quantity cooking experience required. One year purchasing/inventory management preferred. Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Possesses good math, writing skills and the ability to calculate inventory of supplies accurately. Good computer skills with the ability to learn new computer applications/software easily. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills. Possesses the ability to regularly lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds and safely operate product moving equipment. Possesses strong culinary knowledge: understanding recipes and amounts needed. Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of daily purchases/sales. Demonstrates the ability to multitask autonomously while working on multiple responsibilities simultaneously and can deal with constant interruptions from coworkers, vendors, and management. Principle Duties & Responsibilities Using appropriate order forms, determine and maintain levels of inventory by conducting physical inspections daily. Inventory items requiring more than one day for delivery need to be taken into account. Monitor movement of items/inventory to assure proper rotation. Work with management to use up items/inventory no longer needed. Assist with monitoring price variations and comparison. 2. Using vendor software and RSS, place orders via the internet or intranet. Fax or email: milk and produce orders. Phone-in: Jones and NorthStar orders. 3. Check and assure food quality against established standards. Review invoices and assign cost centers before sending to accounting for payment. Track items on back-order. Contact alternate vendor when item is unavailable from regular source. 4. Communicates with supervisor and external vendors/suppliers about errors or quality problems in deliveries that need immediate correction. Works with management, helping to coordinate new items, storage and practicality. 5. Uses Vision software to prepare daily production sheets for all areas of the department utilizing sales reports, staff communication and actual usage to project production needs. Work with staff and management to resolve errors on production sheets. Report large discrepancies between usage and sales to management. 6. Maintain appropriate files; invoices, past cycle order/inventory forms, sales reports. Prepare rebates as needed for credit to our account. 7. Acts as a source for answers on recipe ingredients, recipes, food production and catering in the absence of management. Communicate actual sales to production staff. 8. Assist storekeeper as needed with stock storage/rotation. Delivers food items to other departments or driving to vendors to pick up supplies when needed. 9. Communicate daily with Memorial Child Care Center about lunch delivery. 10.
