Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking motivated and talented Systems Engineers (several) to join our Air Dominance team in the St. Louis, Missouri region. The Air Dominance team develops some of the most dynamic and technically engaging defense platforms and mission capabilities in the industry. The region is dynamic and growing as we support multiple new product development programs. We are focused on developing top talent in support of critical missions for national defense and delivering unique capability to the warfighter. Supported programs include fighters such as the F/A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, F-15 Eagle, F-22 Raptor, and T-7A Red Hawk, autonomous aircraft such as the MQ-25 Stingray and MQ-28 Ghost Bat, and numerous proprietary programs developing the next generation systems. As a systems engineer on a BDS program, you will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. You will evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. • Participate in all aspects of Systems Engineering throughout the full program lifecycle (concept definition, design, test, and production), using traditional and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
• Assist with definition of high level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation
• Assists with risk assessments and generate mitigation plans to comply with system/customer requirements
• Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as DOORS, Cameo, and mathematical modeling and simulation to develop system definitions/architectures and perform trade studies
• Partner with subject matter experts and technology experts to execute the systems engineering statement of work Depending on the program assigned, this position may require 100% work on-site (at one of the listed locations) or may allow some telecommuting. (St. Louis region sites) Security Clearance: - This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.) Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): -
  • Technical Bachelor's, Master's or a PhD degree (A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
  • 1 or more years of relevant engineering experience Preferred Qualifications/Desired Skills (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Experience in applying engineering processes and principles
    • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
    • Experience modeling or simulating systems
    • Experience/domain knowledge of system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation -
    • Experience with product/systems development and integration
    • Experience with implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules and metrics (i.e. DOORs, CAMEO, Earned value management).
    • Technical system domain knowledge (e.g. air vehicle)
    • Experience in technical engineering leadership
    • Current Department of Defense Security Clearance Typical Education/Experience Level 2: - Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Typical Education/Experience Level 3: - Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
