Find your future with us.Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Fuel Systems Design Engineer to join a Platform Systems/Air Vehicle Team in our Phantom Works division located in Berkeley, MO.Several Integrated Product Teams (IPT s), including the Fuel Systems Design Team, make up the Platform Systems Team for specific end item vehicles. The Lead Fuel Systems Design Engineer will play a key role integrating the fuel system into an Air Vehicle in a manner that will make efficient use of structures and other systems. Position Responsibilities

  • Directs the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
  • Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes
  • Coaches and mentors others
  • Works under consultative direction This position is expected to be 100% onsite. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
    • Bachelor s Degree or higher in an engineering or science related field
    • 20+ years experience working with and/or coordinating across engineering disciplines to identify best practices and implement on multiple programs
    • 20+ years experience in directing, delegating, and ensuring performance of assigned responsibilities and task as a project team leader
    • 20+ years experience leading and mentoring a technical team
    • Strong oral and written communications skills
    • The ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
      • 20+ years experience in all aspects of system development, production, and architecture: proposal, design, analysis, development, test, verification, validation, and operations (field testing and deployment)
      • 20+ years experience with Fuel System Design/Analysis
      • Experience with a design tool (CAD package) like Siemens NX, CATIA, etc.
      • Experience using Microsoft Office Products like Outlook, Power Point, Excel, and Word
      • Experience with thermal modeling and analysis
      • Experience with modeling & simulation of a fluid, cooling, or propulsion system
      • Experience in automated test equipment controls development
      • Experience providing technical leadership for an engineering teamTypical Education/ExperienceBachelor's degree with typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
