The Test and Learn Department Leader is responsible for planning, directing, and leading a department consisting of teams of associates and contractors responsible for test operations, best practices, enablement, research, design, analytics and prioritization of technology and non-technology solutions.
We are looking for a candidate that has experience using design thinking to discover and deliver solutions driven by real world test data and is a thought leader in the application of human centered design. You'll be joining our diverse team of problem solvers that employ design and systems thinking to conceptualize and develop high-impact, creative outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall testing capability success and direct impact on business to ensure quality, usefulness and consistent advances in the product or experience
  • Develop, improve and implement best practice processes, test strategies, standards and documentation; to ensure the products and services provided by Edward Jones comply with both external and internal requirements and provide exceptional user experiences
  • Work with highly collaborative business owners and cross functional delivery teams to develop and implement test plans/cases to increase confidence in business outcomes
  • Direct teams through the entire in field test delivery process, executing on the considered end-to-end experience with measurable outcomes
  • Support client engagements by contributing to RFPs, support pitches, roadmap explanations and planning
  • Communicate overall vision through their team and ensure alignment
  • Participate in the creation, harvesting, protection, and reuse of the firm's intellectual capital and will actively participate in knowledge sharing activities like communities of practice, forums, conferences and/or other knowledge exchangesQualifications Required in the Job:
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Digital Media, Research, Engineering, or equivalent experience
    • 7 years of experience in operations strategy including but not limited to: business & process modeling, operations transformation, sales and operations planning
    • 5 years of experience practicing Human Centered Design, and Design Thinking methodologies
    • 3 years of experience on driving transformational changes in large organizations
    • 3 years of experience on strategic research methodologies
    • 3 years of experience on delivering outcomes through agile and waterfall methodologiesProblem Solving:

      Problems are large, complex and ambiguous, requiring a high-level analytical ability and creativity to address.
      • Applies Design Thinking to determine priority, scope and relationships of existing and proposed solutions
      • Is able to lead business leader through processes to systematically break down complex business issues methodically into to testable hypothesis, design tests, and measure outcomes through data
      • Is able to anticipate communication issues and is able to assess opportunities, trends and impacts; must be able to communicate across functions to understand the full breath of the problems and situations.
      • Develops and executes on-going improvements to all processes related to the department as well as divisional opportunities (e.g. firm prioritization, strategic planning, resource management, etc.)
      • Leads negotiations between development and business to collaborate in order to elevate the overall design.Decision Making:

        Decisions result in overall design success or failure and have direct impact on the business.
        • Champions design decisions with qualified rationale that is justified through their own experience and in field test data, or through findings from other Design professionals.
        • Negotiates and evolve the design with stakeholders in the product team and ensure the integrity of the design is upheld in the delivered product.
        • Understands the client's business and brand objectives and can articulate the personality of the transformative idea within the client's brand standards.
        • Influences people and organizations, including executive management, when issues are complex/difficult and require considerable diplomacy.
        • Recognized as an expert in their field.Span of Influence:

          The Test and Learn Department Leader is responsible for providing leadership, development, and mentoring to Team Leaders, Project Leaders, Technical Leaders and associates.
          • Accountable for projects or programs involving multi-functional, country-wide or regional teams.
          • Participates in the overall improvement of the Design community by way of thought leadership, design excellence, education and mentorship.
          • Manages the relationships across the stakeholder spectrum and facilitates interactions; a significant level of customer and stakeholder interaction is required.
