Overview
The Energy Processes & Materials Group within the Energy and
Environment Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is
currently seeking a chemical or development engineer in the area of
grid energy storage. This position is for a chemical engineer,
mechanical engineer, systems engineer, materials scientist,
chemist, and electrochemist in a related field with experience in
technology assessment, market analysis, and industry assessment.
The focus of this position will be on technology readiness
assessment and competitive analysis. Experience in user case
analysis, data transition, and supply chain analysis is required
for techno-economic and use case analysis for various energy
storage technologies.
Responsibilities
Supporting and advising senior scientists and group lead with
programmatic analysis, program/project management, and strategic
planning.
Performing literature reviews to collect technical information and
synthesize into quickly digestible reports, fact sheets, or
briefings on different technical topics.
Participating as a contributor or lead for industrial energy
storage analysis projects resulting in the creation of valuable
resources for the community such as data products and
visualizations. (Examples include energy storage raw materials
supply chain anlysis and impacts of the price fluctuation to
battery market).
Collaborating on analysis and research with industrial experts,
universities/laboratories, and other government personnel.
Synthesizing and clearly communicating results of research to
colleagues and clients through formal and informal presentations
and written technical communications (reports, white papers, fact
sheets, briefings, journal articles, etc.)
Preparing and presenting technology and programmatic reports,
presentations, briefings to both technical and non-technical
audiences.
Participating, supporting, and helping to coordinate in-person and
virtual meetings (client/team meetings, stakeholder engagements,
workshops, discussions with industry experts, etc.).
Work closely with program managers and co-workers in a fast-paced
collaborative team environment (diligent and responsive
contributor).
Other duties as assigned.
