Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Autonomy Sr. Software Engineer (Phantom Works) to join the Advanced Autonomous Systems (AAS) Software team located in Hazelwood, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.Phantom Works is an advanced research and development organization responsible for engaging customers through cutting-edge visual modeling and simulation; innovating cross-cutting concepts and technologies; prototyping solutions to extend current products and win new programs; and developing new businesses and entering new markets.Position Responsibilities:Create autonomous software systems to control, augment, and enhance Boeing productsAct in technical software integration lead capacity for Boeing sponsored demonstrations, on programs and in highly-visible large fleet demonstrations using group 2-5 UAVs and surrogate UAVsBe familiar with flight dynamics and leverage experience with hardware as it relates to sensors, embedded systems, and systems integrationEnsure sound software engineering principles are upheld while supporting BDS customers with high-quality and timely program execution software deliverablesDevelopment of long term plans for implementing tools and technologies that enable a robust, modern and flexible software architectureWork closely with partner organizations, such as research labs or subsidiaries, and other Phantom Works engineering leaders to ensure Boeing is oriented to become the leader in Aerospace Defense AutonomyUtilize strong soft skills related to consensus-building, communication, conflict resolution, and active listeningEnsure alignment/feasibility between strategic, technical and demonstration roadmapsDefine, document and relentlessly improve processes related to software workflow, prioritizing simplicity and adaptabilityThis position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Hazelwood, MO.Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) post start.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance post start10+ years of software engineering experience3+ years of experience with robotics and / or autonomy techniques3+ years of experience in a leadership role (i.e., manager, project manager, team lead, etc.)Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance10+ years of combined experience with languages including C++, Python, Java and RubyDomain knowledge of aerospace mission systems software developmentReal-time software development experienceExperience with version control systems such as GitExperience as a software architectExperience supporting flight demonstrationsExperience with continuous integration practicesExperience with Agile software development processTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+7 years' related work experience, Master+10 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standardRelocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
