Modis has an immediate job opening for a contract-to-hire Senior Windows Server Operations Specialist in the St. Louis, MO area. The ideal candidate will have 5 – 10 years of applicable experience.

• Web (IIS) Administration experience
• VMWare experience
• Active Directory experience

 
Job Description

• 
  

• Provides technology support for both internal and external clients.
• Under general direction maintains complex high-availability web hosting environments with respect to system integration, access, performance and security.
• Maintains existing server based platforms and ongoing maintenance of infrastructure and client systems.
• Troubleshoots network, hardware, and software related issues.
• Support of existing standards and processes.
• Interacts with management and cross functional team members to provide excellent customer service.
• Able to align business unit issues to technology offerings.
• Promotes team productivity by sharing industry best practices and adopting these approaches.
• Takes proactive approach and finds opportunities to train and mentor others in the team.
• Perform root cause analysis, quickly identify trends and recommend possible solutions.

 
Skill Set Qualifications

• 
  

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a technology related field and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, negotiate and position solutions towards strategic plans. Excellent execution skills.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure, server configuration and setup, and security practices.
• Understands the rigors of a 24x7 hosting environment and able to maintain positive outlook during stressful situations.

 
Technical Requirements

• 
  

• Windows 2003/2008/2012 Administration for web, application and database servers
• VMware Administration
• Knowledge of Firewalls and DMZ architecture
• Knowledge of Active Directory Architecture
• Knowledge of Networking protocols and LAN/WAN connectivity
• Manage workload utilizing ticketing system
• 24x7 on-call rotation with team members
• PowerShell scripting and automation

 
Desired Skills/Understanding

• Remote Access technologies (VPN/Citrix)
• File Transfer methodologies and encrypt/decrypt
• SAN concepts
• Project Server
• Team Foundation Services
• Web farm clustering and load balancing (F5)
• DNS administration
