Must-Have: Post-operative care experience, critical thinking
skills, strong bedside manner, team player Description: The
position is for a registered nurse in a surgical acute medical
surgical unit. The unit has a total of 63 beds, including private
and observation beds. Patient ratios are 4-5 patients per RN during
the day and 5-6 patients per RN at night. Common patient diagnoses
include post-operative surgical cases, trauma, and overflow medical
needs. Staff will perform dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy,
pain management, and care for drains and NG tubes. The RN will be
part of a team that includes charge nurses and house supervisors
available 24/7. Patient care techs will assist with vital signs,
activities of daily living, turning, and ambulation. RNs will not
be required to titrate drips; Heparin is the only titratable
medication. Telemetry monitoring is available, and RNs will not be
expected to read their own strips, as monitor techs will be
present. There will be a weekend requirement of every other weekend
and a holiday rotation. Travelers may be asked to float to units
with similar experience. All staff are expected to follow the dress
