patients - Ability to titrate drips, specifically Heparin
Description: The unit has a total of 10 beds. The nurse-to-patient
ratio is 1:5. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory failure,
post-surgical care, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA,
post-trauma, and cardiac conditions. Registered nurses are expected
to troubleshoot and interact with all respiratory equipment,
including vents, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow devices. Nurses are
responsible for reading their own telemetry strips, with monitoring
assisted by a dedicated tech. There will be a house supervisor
available 24/7 for support. Patient care technicians are present on
the unit, with a ratio of 1:10. Staff will be required to
participate in weekend and holiday rotations and assist with
floating to other areas as needed. The attire requirement includes
scrubs only, with OSF-approved t-shirts permitted in any color.
Unit-specific orientation will include classroom instruction
followed by practical shifts with a preceptor. The charting system
