Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, plus rotating call) Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - ASN - Nursing Process - Patient Safety - Accurate Documentation Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all tasks and duties specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential for the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completing an initial assessment upon patient admission and developing an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards is required. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based upon continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is crucial. Effective communication with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues is important. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base.
