Job Description American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Normal, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/09/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position in Illinois with Epic and Level 1 Trauma experience required. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Work in a hospital-based Clinical Resource Unit (float pool) - Float to multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Ortho, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab - Provide care to a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical cases - Night shift schedule: 7:00PM-7:30AM, three 12-hour shifts per week - Uses Epic EMR system for documentation - No on-call requirements - No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from the facility - Provide direct patient care, implement and modify care plans, and administer medications - Perform and document assessments, manage acute and chronic cardiac and pulmonary patients, and provide post-operative care - Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and delegate tasks as needed - Maintain patient safety in accordance with institutional standards including fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention - Participate in team huddles and ensure thorough bedside shift reports and hourly rounding - RTO (Requested Time Off) not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract - Contingent workers may not be continuously assigned for more than one year; a 6-month break is required before returning - No travel partners accepted for this assignment /n /n Requirements/n - Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted) - Current BLS (AHA) certification - Minimum of one year relevant nursing experience - Experience in Level 1 Trauma setting required - Epic EMR experience required - Associate’s degree in nursing or higher - English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing /n Benefits/n - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts /n American Traveler Job ID P-671190.
