Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered

experience required License: Active IL license or confirmation that
application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
Must-Have: Must have Level 1 trauma experience. Must have previous
travel experience (no first-time travelers). Must have prior
experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. Description: Unit
includes 54 beds, with 2 semi-private rooms. Nurse-to-patient
ratios are 1:4-5 during the day shift and 1:5-6 at night. Common
diagnoses include stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head
injury, any neuroscience, and some medical overflow. RNs are
required to titrate drips, including heparin titrated drip based on
PTT. Charge nurse is available 24/7 and does not take an assignment
unless the unit is short-staffed. House supervisors are also
present 24/7. Patient care technicians are available with ratios of
1:9-10 during the day and evening shifts and 1:10-12 at night. RNs
may troubleshoot high flow equipment, but it is rare to have COVID
patients on this unit. House-wide telemetry monitors are used, and
nurses do not need to read strips. Shifts are 12 hours, and weekend
requirements are every other weekend, with shifts scheduled on
Saturday and Sunday. Holidays are also required every other year.
There is no call or standby requirement. Travelers will float in
rotation with the rest of the staff. General unit travelers may be
assigned to a full team and will only perform skills they are
competent in if floated outside the general unit. Scrub color
requirements are not specified, but tattoos must be covered while
on duty, and only ear piercings are permitted. Orientation consists
of 2 days, including computer training and unit-specific
