Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Springfield, IL Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $3,058 per week Shift Information: Nights - 4 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: IMC Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required. License: Must have active state license to apply. Certifications: BLS and NIH required. ACLS preferred. Must-Have: - Required work setting experience: Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown. - Required cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills/experience: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of rapid response teams. - Required cardiovascular skills/experience: Post-Cardiac Angiogram, Post-MI, Pre/Post-Cardiac Catheterization, Pre/Post-Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR Band. - Required gastrointestinal skills/experience: Feeding tube care and management. - Required genitourinary/renal skills/experience: Pre/Post-Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure. - Required IV therapy/phlebotomy skills/experience: Accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs. - Required medication skills/experience: Heparin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration, PCA, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips. - Required neurological/psychiatric case experience: Craniotomy, CVA, pre/post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury. - Required orthopedics case experience: Ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements. - Required plastic surgery case experience: Skin grafts, surgical drains. - Required respiratory skills/experience: Care of ventilated patients, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management. - Required professional topics and skills: Isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac. Description: This position is for a stepdown/PCU Registered Nurse. The shift is night with flexible scheduling options. Ratios and daily caseloads are typically 1:4. Weekend work is required with coverage expected every other weekend. Experience with telemetry and emergency response is crucial for this role. Candidates should possess the ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage critical cardiac situations. Experience in a fast-paced environment with high patient throughput is necessary. Strong communication skills and interdisciplinary collaboration are valued. The facility is a Magnet acute care hospital with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be required to float as needed within their scope of practice. Teaching hospital experience is preferred, and familiarity with Cerner charting is also advantageous.
