Overview Sign-on Bonus Available! Relocation bonus available for
1yr experience and >50mi As a health care professional, the
incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to, managing the
processes involved in performing respiratory therapy, ventilator
management, ECG, oxygen administration and airway management This
position is also the preceptor and resource therapist in the area
for training of employees and daily functions. Qualifications
Certifications: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) -
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
(IDFPR)Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
(IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart
Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiac
Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association
(AHA)American Heart Association (AHA); Neonatal Resuscitation
Program (NRP) within 1 year - American Academy of Pediatrics

Responsibilities PERFORMS PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES TO INCLUDE ALL
FORMS OF RESPIRATORY THERAPY, NON-INVASIVE CARDIOLOGY, AND OTHER
ASSIGNED DUTIES UTILIZING APPLICABLE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND IS
EXPECTED TO BE THE EXPERT - Exhibits competency and is the resource
person in performing respiratory procedures - Interprets and
executes physician orders - Completes accurate documentation -
Documents before and after pulse, breath sounds, sputum production
on respiratory treatment - Ensures all ECGs contain proper
information - Documents oximetry and oxygen therapy - Documents
position on chest physiotherapy - Documents suctioning and
tracheostomy care - Demonstrates the ability to individualize
therapy to meet the patient's need - Respects privacy -
Demonstrates the ability to anticipate the patient needs - Reports
pertinent information to the appropriate personnel - Notifies
leader of respiratory care, nursing supervisor, or unit leader of
any inappropriate patient care issues - Documents all medication
and patient care errors - Informs nurses or other care givers when
appropriate - Completes documentation prior to leaving the shift -
Maintains expert working knowledge of all general equipment. - Acts
as technical expert in equipment operation including hardware and
software. - Acts as expert and resource person for trouble shooting
equipment. - Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all
supplies in their specific area - Performs Bronchodilator Protocol
Assessment ASSURES COMPETENT PERSONNEL AND CONTINUED SKILL
DEVELOPMENT. - Evaluates staff performance. - Evaluates staff
performance continuously, providing positive reinforcement and
constructive criticism in a professional manner. - Manages
personnel conflicts and seeks direction from Manager. - Facilitates
staff development. - Assures specific orientation for all new staff
through a structured system. - Provides opportunities for staff
development on a formal and informal basis. - Performs an ongoing
assessment of services and personnel performance/development needs
to develop education plans in conjunction with the department of
Human Resource and the Technical Manager. - Communicates
information and direction to staff through effective mechanisms
including at least monthly staff meeting for which minutes are
maintained. - Develops and implements a staffing plan. - Evaluates
patient needs and developmental levels of staff to adjust staffing
levels up and down as daily workload changes. - Monitors and
maintains skill level of staff in assigned areas. - Identifies
recommends and implements staffing adjustments to reduce overtime
and/or over-budget ASSUMES PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR TRAINING
FELLOW TECHNOLOGIST/STUDENTS AND USES TIME, SUPPLIES AND OTHER
RESOURCES PRODUCTIVELY TO PROMOTE RESPONSIVE AND COST-EFFECTIVE
CARE FOR OUR PATIENTS - Shares knowledge and guides fellow
therapist/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
- Encourages fellow therapist/student participation with
respiratory therapies - Helps with respiratory therapies when
fellow technologist/students seeks/needs assistance. - Displays a
professional attitude in the area toward fellow
therapists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a
productive learning environment. - Coordinates a training program
as well as continued training of existing employees to ensure high
quality care. - Completes care while conserving resources. -
Completes work within assigned shift. - Prevents waste of supplies
and linen. - Uses slow time to improve area appearance and accept
additional assignments DISPLAYS LEADERSHIP SKILLS IN THEIR DAILY
PROCESS - Leads in development of teamwork of staff to ensure
efficient and appropriate patient care. - Utilizes a global view in

Benefits The compensation range for this position is $35.14per hour
- $60.44per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum
range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The
actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a
variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s
experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts
