Med/Surg RN Job Details – Springfield, IL - Position: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract - Location: Springfield, IL 62781 - Unit: 4G Surgical – 23-bed Medical Surgical Unit - Facility: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet Hospital, Level I Trauma Center - Start Date: November 17, 2025 - End Date: February 16, 2026 - Contract Length: 13 weeks - Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift (18:45 – 07:15), 3 shifts/week - Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week - Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000 - $2050 - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend - Scrub Color: Any solid color - Charting System: Cerner EMR - Parking: Free parking permit provided Registered Nurse Qualifications - Active Illinois RN license or in application process - At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting - BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and NIHSS certifications required - Proficient in PICC line management and IV starts - Previous charge nurse experience preferred - Cerner EMR experience preferred - Ability to float to other medical units or affiliate hospitals as needed - Willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment covers holiday period - Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted) - First-time travel nurses welcome - Local Springfield, IL candidates accepted Med/Surg RN Responsibilities - Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 23-bed Med/Surg unit - Care for patients with neurological and surgical diagnoses: ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, TIA, subdural hematoma, brain mass, seizures, spinal cord injuries, craniotomies, and other neurological disorders - Perform and manage PICC lines; start and maintain IVs - Administer medications including levetiracetam, lorazepam, aspirin, lovenox, heparin, antihypertensives, plavix, atorvastatin, and eliquis - Monitor and manage drips (Heparin; Amiodarone and Lasix are not titrated) - Assist with procedures such as EEG and lumbar puncture - Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes - Float to other medical units or affiliate hospitals as needed - Maintain compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards Experience a rewarding travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois—a city known for its historic charm, thriving arts scene, and supportive healthcare community.
