• Role Overview:
• Conducts continuous assessment and data collection, focusing on the physical, mental, and cognitive well-being of patients. Provides nutritional guidance, identifies patient and caregiver educational needs, and begins medical nutrition therapy. Collaborates with physicians and healthcare team members when necessary. Evaluates educational material for patients. The Diabetes Registered Dietitian Specialist can efficiently prioritize complex data to address the needs of diabetes patients and offer tailored counseling and treatment adjustments. Specialized skills include medical nutrition therapy, medication management, exercise planning, behavior counseling, and managing psychosocial issues for optimal metabolic control.
• Qualifications:
• Education:
• Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University.
• Experience:
• Required: Completion of an American Dietetics Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program
• Preferred: Experience in clinical medical office settings.
• Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capable of independent and team-oriented work.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• Must complete department-specific credentialing within the first 90 days.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration:
• Required: Licensed as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Missouri.
