Kelly Services is partnering with a major agricultural supplier in Decatur, IL to provide entry level laboratory technicians in a variety of different labs located on the customer's campus. This entry level Lab Tech position is designed to learn each of the analytical aisles in a Quality Control laboratory. Starting pay is $14.50 per hour. The technician will prepare, process and finish product samples, perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures, and record results using computerized data systems. This position requires 8 to 12 hour rotating shifts with the ability to work overtime as needed. This position is temporary to hire in less than six months. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Complete both plant and laboratory safety orientations Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by complying with all department and plant safety policies. Understands that accidents are preventable and that safety is everyone's responsibility. Reacts immediately to eliminate any hazards, unsafe equipment and/or acts. Additionally ensures that any accidents, injuries and near misses are reported immediately to area supervision. Performs at least one Laboratory Safety audit per month. Willingness and ability to work within the time demands of a 24/7/365 workday operation. Participation is encouraged in a plant safety committee and in the SOR (Safety Observations) and VBS (Value Based Safety) programs Demonstrate sufficient math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing. Demonstrate ability to accept instruction, coaching, and constructive criticism as tools for continuous improvement Demonstrate computer skills Perform other duties as assigned by quality department management. Requirements: Degree in a science related field or on-the-job related experience Ability to observe, analyze, and determine outcomes relating to the position procedures Ability to multitask Punctuality is critical
