Summary







Manages, maintains and approves the annual budget for the Business Office. Sets objectives that will support the goals and objectives for the Business Office; monitors the financial performance of the department to ensure that it operates within budgetary constraints.



Selects and assigns department staff. Monitors and supervises staff; evaluates performance and initiates or recommends personnel actions. Encourages professional growth and development of department personnel through inservice education and other programs. Resolves staff grievances in accordance with Human Resource policies.



Closely monitors the status of accounts receivable to ensure that departmental and organizational goals are met; works with Team Leads and Analysts to implement action plans as needed to secure goal of net days is sustained




Establishes reporting mechanisms and controls to ensure that all billing and collection activities are appropriately monitored and carried out; provides direction to Team Leads to correct any deficiencies in such activities. Develops and communicates policies and procedures to improve the billing and collection processes.




Ensures that prompt, efficient financial service is provided to patients; aids governmental managed care teams in resolving problems relating to financial arrangements, processing of insurance claims, and other patient accounting matters.






Analyzes all State and Federal regulations of Medicare and Illinois Department of Public Aid, and reviews and monitors Managed Care contracts and other third party carriers; establishes guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations. Interacts effectively with external agencies, resolving problems expeditiously.






Works closely with external auditors to ensure that all patient accounting information is provided in a timely, complete, and organized fashion






Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of health care billing and collection practices, as well as governmental regulations affecting such practices.
