We are seeking a Part-Time Office Assistant to assist in implementing and maintaining systems to operate the business in an effective and efficient manner to operate Safe Haven Hospice in a financially sound manner.We offer:

  • Ensure all financial information is obtained and entered for newly admitted patients..
  • Send accurate Medicare letters, discharge, and bedhold letters as directed.
  • Maintain the common working file on all patients.
  • Process therapy requests.
  • Make follow-up calls for Medicare and Medicaid as needed.
  • Call for insurance verification as needed.
  • Act as backup on the telephone system
  • Oversee the daily deposits.
  • Distribute mail daily accurately and timely.
  • Requisition and maintain adequate supplies and equipment for use in office.
  • Maintain a timely and accurate patient census and attend regularly scheduled Medicare meetings as needed.
  • Function as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide quality care to all patients.
  • Foster self-respect and a feeling of worth in each patient by consistent kindness, understanding, and patience in their care.
  • Ensure proper care and use of equipment and waste disposal procedures in accordance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Observe all community policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety, infection control, patient rights, and those contained in the employee handbook.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all protected health information whether electronic, written, or oral exposed to either during the course of assigned duties or as a result of an incidental disclosure.
  • Apply the Minimum Necessary Standard in all matters related to patients' protected health information.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Additional formal training or education in accounting and office systems preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience with office systems required.
  • Medicare and Medicaid experience preferred.
  • Long-term care experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and its applications required.
  • Able to follow and give written and oral directions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, patients, families, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Display leadership qualities, good communication skills, and a desire to continuously learn.
