flexibility:HybridJob SummaryWe are searching for a Controller for
one of our top clients in Evanston, IL.Job DescriptionWe are
looking for a Controller. This position will be full-time and
onsite in Evanston, IL. This individual must be proactive,
self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal
skills in order to work successfully with a team of four
experienced members. This individual will also have direct
interactions with the President and other officers of the
corporation. Our client's Finance department handles all cash
receipts and disbursements for the corporation. Our client's IT
environment currently runs on three main platforms - AS400, Linux,
and Microsoft.NET. The accounting enterprise resource planning
software is Abila MIP for fund accounting. Paylocity runs the
payroll software for payroll processing and files payroll tax
returns on the corporation's behalf. Additionally, an internal web
server runs several essential corporate-wide applications. An
internal PC network is maintained, and Adobe Acrobat Pro and
Microsoft Office are heavily utilized, especially Excel, Word,
Teams, and Outlook.What You'll Do
- Proof monthly trial balance and prepare monthly financial
statements
- Review journal entries and month-end general ledger
reconciliations
- Review reconciliation of investment manager and custodian
reports
- Review reconciliations for corporate and college sponsor
accounts
- Monitor cash balances and transfer funds as appropriate
- Produce semi-monthly payroll and review related payroll tax
filings
- Coordinate and prepare budget workpapers (February to
April)
- Coordinate annual audit and Form 990 support requests (May and
June)
- Review and update the operations calendar
- Coordinate and review annual state registrations with legal
counsel
- Preview disbursements and cash receipts
- Coordinate various employee benefit programs including new
employee onboarding
- sessions, annual open enrollment meetings, and related
communications and
- documentation regarding programs changes
- Various other duties as assigned by the Vice President and
Treasurer, President,
- other officers, and upper management of the corporationWhat
You'll NeedRequired:
- Bachelor's degree required, advanced degrees/certifications/MBA
preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Must have at least 5 years of experience and demonstrated
success in the
- accounting/finance field
- Must have excellent written and verbal and communication skills
with the ability to interact with a diverse group of managers,
staff, scholarship sponsors, and college/university officials in a
very detail-oriented professional organization with extremely high
standards
- Must have solid experience in general accounting and cash
management functions
- Must have expertise in contribution revenue recognition and
endowment accounting
- Detail oriented without sacrificing the capability to delegate,
train, and motivate staff
- Committed to high standards, accuracy, and excellence
- Must be able to work independently and with groups of various
sizes
- Proven ability to organize and control multiple projects
simultaneously
- Thorough knowledge and extensive experience working with Adobe
Acrobat and Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, Teams, and
Outlook is requiredPreferred:
- Experience with an ERP system and knowledge of Abila MIP would
be a huge plus
- Experience with CRMs, specifically Salesforce, would also be a
