Expenditure Management is seeking an accountant to support our department's Expenditure Management Oversight, Reporting and Governance (EMORG) team.

Expenditure Management's key responsibilities are to:

  • Ensure the Firm's liabilities are paid in a timely, accurate, controlled, and efficient manner.
  • Govern the Firm's vendor master data.
  • Ensure vendor tax reporting is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversight for the Firm's outsourced rent, branch facilities, utility & telecom functions.
  • Ensure financial integrity of our PeopleSoft Expense (T&E) and related reimbursements.
  • Ensure property taxes are paid accurately and on time on behalf of each location.
  • Ensure business licenses are paid to keep the branches operational.Role Responsibilities:
    • Reconcile and review general ledger, customer, and/or firm accounts and transactions.
    • Prepare, summarize, and present Firm financial reports and analysis. Identify trends and present recommendations to senior leadership in order to influence decision making.
    • Analyze, document, and monitor business relationships and partnerships with key business owners and stakeholders throughout the division and firm.
    • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams responsible for implementing Finance business objectives and projects.
    • Support system design, documentation, testing, and implementation to ensure functional business area requirements are met.
    • Inform other business areas as to the financial impact of potential business decisions they are responsible for making.
    • Proactively identify high risk issues, efficiencies, and controls and assist in implementing solutions.
    • Train new Finance associates within the department as well as key business partners within the division.
      Education and Experience:
      • Bachelor's degree is required, with emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
      • 4+ years relevant work experience in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
      • Financial services or brokerage industry experience preferred.
      • Professional licensure, or working towards designation is a plus.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
      • Must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external parties.
        • Internal: Peers, Department Leaders, Partners
        • External: Auditors, Vendors
        • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
        • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.
        • Understanding of intermediate accounting principles, including financial statements.
        • Advanced financial analysis skills.Problem Solving
          • Identify and research accounting business process and/or control issues, research causes of issues, identify solutions to correct, and participate in implementing solutions.
          • Manage routine matters or processes in their area of expertise.
          • Identifies ways to retrieve and analyze data using a variety of resources. Analyze information for an initiative and make recommendation.
          • Associate drives problem solving efforts while leader reviews.
          • Solve problems while working with tight time frames, heavy workloads, or conflicting demands.Decision Making
            • All decisions carry an element of risk due to access to confidential, compensation, capital, or Firm financial information.
            • Routine and low risk decisions will often be made independent of review in accordance with precedent and/or procedure.
            • Seek input from direct leader on complex issues and related solutions.
            • Decisions will likely be within area of responsibility but may require input from other areas.Span of Influence
              • Professional representation of the Firm in all situations is necessary.
              • Work closely with the team, with other departments within Finance, and with various levels of associates in other divisions of the Firm.
              • While there are no direct people responsibilities, coordinating with others to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines will be required. Will occasionally mentor and train other associates on the team.
              • Lead individual initiatives or processes within area of responsibility but may require input from other areas.

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:
