is the place for you! Job Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant
(PTA) will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical
Therapist to provide rehabilitative care to individuals, including
adults with developmental disabilities. As a PRN team member, this
position offers flexible scheduling based on patient needs and
department requirements. The PTA will assist in implementing
personalized therapy plans, promoting physical health, and
supporting patients' mobility, strength, and independence in our
clinic with a focus on adults with developmental disabilities. Key
Responsibilities: Therapeutic Interventions: Assist the Physical
Therapist in carrying out therapy plans, including exercises,
manual techniques, functional mobility training, and use of
assistive devices, to help patients achieve their functional goals.
Program Implementation: Implement therapy plans designed by the
Physical Therapist, including exercises for strengthening,
flexibility, balance, and coordination. Documentation: Maintain
accurate, timely, and comprehensive records of patient progress,
therapy interventions, and any changes in treatment plans, ensuring
compliance with regulations and best practices. Collaboration: Work
alongside a multidisciplinary team, including Physical Therapists,
Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and caregivers, to
provide integrated care. Communicate effectively with all team
members regarding patient progress. Patient Education: Provide
guidance to patients and their families/caregivers on exercises,
home programs, safety protocols, and assistive devices to enhance
independence and overall physical function. Assist with Mobility
and Transfers: Support patients with mobility challenges during
sessions, ensuring proper body mechanics and safety. Assist with
transfers, walking, and the use of mobility aids. Patient Advocacy
and Support: Support patients with developmental disabilities by
promoting an environment of empathy, respect, and encouragement.
Work to ensure each patient’s needs are met with individualized
care. Compliance: Follow all regulatory guidelines, safety
protocols, and ethical standards of practice. Ensure patient
confidentiality is maintained in line with HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications: Education: Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy
Assisting from an accredited program. Licensure/Certification:
Current Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Missouri license, CPR and
First Aid certification preferred. Experience: Prior experience
working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly
preferred. Experience in clinical, outpatient, rehabilitation, or
long-term care settings is advantageous. Skills and Attributes:
Strong interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively
with patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams. Ability to work
independently and manage time effectively, as this is an as-needed,
PRN role. Empathy, patience, and adaptability in dealing with
patients with varying abilities and needs. Knowledge of physical
therapy modalities, equipment, and interventions. Ability to assist
patients with mobility and therapeutic tasks while ensuring safety
and proper technique. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift,
transfer, and assist patients as needed. Ability to stand, walk,
bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to handle the
physical demands of therapy-related equipment. Work Environment:
Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis, with schedules that may
vary according to patient needs and department demand. PRN team
members must be available to fill shifts as required, but hours are
